Blake's 15th Birthday
The ride to Seattle from Spokane is a very interesting one. Who knew that the middle of Washington pretty much resembles Wyoming? Then you cross over a mountain and you come into thick, lush, green trees and lots of rivers running through it. Then we passed through some mountains and the clouds were thick with moisture raining down on us and then we came down into Seattle and the sun came out again. It was beautiful! The city welcomed us by having the Blue Angels perform while we drove down the freeway to our campground. It made us feel very special that they were so hospitable!
We did a combined birthday dinner this evening. We had children close to the same birthday so Doug could remember the dates (well, not really). However, Sydney's birthday is August 1st and Blake's birthday is August 2nd. They are so close that we do often celebrate them together. For Blake's birthday, he wanted cheesecake. Mom was dying for crab legs, so we ended up at Red Lobster to celebrate both.
Blake is a good kid, despite his little quirky teenage things. Although he tends to procrastinate some things, he eventually gets around to them. He earned his Eagle Scout, so he now gets to opportunity (when we get home) to try and get his driver's permit. Yes, I can't believe I just said that. The boy will be driving soon (watch out world!). He has been practicing driving around all the campgrounds that we stay at. He is quick to jump and help hook up my car and unhook my car when we pull in/pull out of camp. Happy Birthday, Blake! We love you, son.
Tomorrow is an exciting day in Seattle. We start out with a guided tour of the city in the morning to include Pike's Market, the Space Needle, Safeco Stadium, Qwest stadium, and a few other areas. Tomorrow night, we're all going to a Seattle Mariner's game where they will take on the Baltimore Orioles. Go Mariners! Watch for those pictures tomorrow!
