I told you a falsehood in my previous blog. Down south, our beach water in August is like bath water. However, in the northeast I am told it is much like the Pacific Ocean. I haven't been to Maine or Rhode Island (though I would someday like to), so I was too general in my eastern thinking. In my neck of the woods (the redneck part-Doug would say), the water is warm and the sun shines bright. I notice in Oregon, though it is so beautiful, that many people walk the beaches and no one gets in. It must be because the high today is only like 61 degrees. It is great traveling weather, but does nothing for the tan.

On the way to Newport, we stopped in the town of Tillamook. Fascinating little town having their county fair this weekend. We did a little tour of their cheese factory (tell our friend Steve Conlee we were thinking of him as we toured). I must say they make some tasty cheese and some downright delectable ice cream. So, if you are in the market and happen to see some cheese, milk or ice cream with the Tillamook name on it, think of me and pick some up. It is very delicious! (I can see right now in my mind which of my good friends are laughing and laughing as they think of the Ellis' touring the local cheese factory).

Remember that Christmas commercial when the family came downstairs on Christmas morning to a whole slew of awesome big kid toys? The dad said, "What did you put in those cookies?" The little girl replied, "I didn't give him cookies. I gave him cheese." Isn't this whole cheese process incredible?

And if Oregon isn't incredible enough, they even have marsh-mellow farms. We drove along 101 all day today looking at the marsh-mellow farms (really hay individually bagged). The kids thought they were awesome!

YUM-O! I love good cheese (not off brand nasty stuff)! What a fun little tour.
You are recreating our honeymoon --ferry rides, Victoria, Butchart Gardens, Tillamook. Hey, were you a fly on the wall?
Marcia
I remember LOVING the Tillamook dairy products when we lived in OR. When we moved to Boise last year, I was thrilled once again! Their dairy is THE BEST! Anyways, they sold the cheddar cheese at Costco in F'burg...you never knew all that time what you were missing out on! Terrence is in Portland...he comes home on Aug. 20th...can you believe it???
