Good Advice

I appreciate everyone for their input on the soccer thing. Sam is very excited to be playing soccer both fall and spring now w/ the same coach & team. She is even going to attend his recommended camp before we leave on our RV trip this summer. I think it will be good exercise for her and hopefully will cut down on any boredom that she tends to have.

My only worries are the 2 practices & 2 games per week, but hopefully between Doug & I we'll get the divide and conquer thing perfected. Luckily, Blake now plays for his high school team, so he practices after school. Ashlyn is more interested in school work than sports, so we keep pushing her to try gymnastics or continue w/ tae kwon do. We'll worry about that after summer.

Ashlyn did well in her track meet. She did the javelin, long jump, 100 m and the relay. I'm pretty sure her team took the meet. Again, she beat her time and didn't come in last, so her goals were accomplished tonight. The whole family attended to support her tonight. It was fun!

I have to do Blake's Academic/Athletic Banquet tomorrow night. We are honoring 86 students tomorrow. Say an extra prayer that all goes well. It is my first year to chair this event. I've enjoyed it, but I'm nervous for all the unexpected things that may occur in our maiden voyage. I'll keep you updated on that tomorrow.

I'm glad your kids are doing well with school and sports. I loved going to see my brother's soccer games and swim meets. I loved to see my family there supporting me when I played. I think that is important. I remember when we lived in Va and you said that there was a book to see where your kids should be in school. Arizona apparently has horrible schools and I just want to make sure that Avery is where he's suppose to be. He's a smart kid and I just don't want him to loose that.

The book is called The Educated Child by William Bennett. It is fabulous. It even gives a summer reading guide, so you keep them on the right reading levels.
