Academic/Athletic Banquet

The Banquet for Blake's school was last night and I was the chair for this event. You get to help chair lots of events when you are the PTO President. I must say it really wasn't that bad being President, but that is reserved for later. The banquet turned out pretty well. I think next year will be even better now that the teachers & students better understand what we were going for. The first year is always a learning experience anyway. Lucky for me, I had some fabulous helpers who took care of setting up, decorating, and the dessert bar was to die for! We honored 86 kids last night. Blake received a service award for being on the service committee and he lettered in basketball. He got an early birthday present, as we ordered his high school letter jacket and let him personalize it. It looks really nice on him. I am going to chair this next year too, b/c I just feel very strongly about rewarding these kids for all of their hard work. Even the teachers got into the spirit of the evening! We were also lucky enough to have Greg Wrubel emcee for us. Many of you will know his as the KSL Voice of the BYU Cougars.

As far as being the PTO President, I got to meet a lot of great people. I was able to work closely with the school and make suggestions where needed. Although I will still be on the board next year as past-president, it won't be as stressful. I enjoy chairing the 2 events I signed up for: The Academic/Athletic banquet and Winterfest. I also get to pick my committee, so I've already asked my wonderful friends who helped me this year and are fantastic! Luckily the Internet sure makes the job easier! So, don't be shy about being on the PTO. It really is worthwhile.
