Spring Break in Vegas

This past week was my Spring Break for Provo College. Although we love the Caribbean, there just wasn't time to go this year. Where else could we go that was cheap, warm and within a few hours of home? Las Vegas.
We stayed at Mandalay Bay. It was the next best thing to the beach. Doug searched all the hotels and found that Mandalay Bay had a simulated beach with a wave pool and lazy river.

I have wanted to see the Donny & Marie show, since I heard they were going to Vegas. It was a great family show. Donny had a better stage presence than Marie, but she was still great! It was well worth the $$ for the tickets.

When we lived in Vegas back in 1995, you could eat for next to nothing in Vegas. Well, it isn't the case anymore. It costs a lot to eat in Las Vegas now. This is Doug with his $9 shampoo bottle of water.

Another great thing about Vegas is that we have a few friends who still live there. We went out to dinner with Doug's mission companion Charlie & his wife Sandra. Charlie has been a fireman in Vegas for almost 20 years now. He is a great guy. When we lived in Provo during college, we would often open up the door and Charlie would be standing there.

We also go to see my BYU roommate Jeni and her husband Lars. These two hold so many great college memories for me. If you're looking for a great attorney in Las Vegas, Lars is your man! He is one of the smartest guys we know. Jeni and I were roommates until we both got married. She was a novelty to me, who grew up on the beach. She was a cowgirl who barrel-raced her horse from Burns, Oregon. BYU will always be special for us, because we became more than friends. She is like a sister to me! Lars is like a brother. How lucky we are to have friends like these!

While we were gone, we missed our friend's Melanie's birthday! Happy 40th Birthday, Mel! WE love ya!
