Christmas Traditions

Doug & I are always trying to create traditions for our kids. Sometimes the kids wonder what in the heck their parents are doing to them, but hopefully they will appreciate them as they get older. One of our Christmas traditions is to see the lights at Temple Square. We usually try to go and have dinner somewhere and then walk around Temple Square and maybe even see a Christmas movie at the Visitors' Center. This year, since we stayed in SLC for Thanksgiving, we extended our hotel stay one more night to be able to enjoy "opening night" at Temple Square. The lights are beautiful and there is just something about the spirit of Temple Square that makes it feel like Christmas.

We rode Trax downtown early Friday morning to The Gateway to see Twilight. After the movie, we did some brief shopping for some necessities, had lunch, and then went to take a tour of the Church Office Building. Well, the Church took a vacation day on Friday, so we went over and took a tour of Brigham Young's home, The Beehive House. The kids' enjoyed it and it was a different tour from the last one I took. Afterwards, we walked over to the Vistors' Center to watch a movie to wait for the lights! By the time we were done, the lights were one and we walked around and then caught the Trax back to the hotel. It was a great weekend. On Saturday, we came home and put up our Christmas decorations! I love Christmas! I would leave the stuff up all year if I could!
