Doug & Jerome have been excited about their hunting trip for months. Doug got his new black powder gun, they loaded up the 4-wheelers, camping equipment and a ton of food and off they went early Friday morning. They saw plenty, but nothing that would amount to a score of deer meat and jerky for the winter. Doug loved sleeping under the stars, but to kill a deer was just not in the cards this year. Good thing he had a good friend to share it all with.Blog entries are getting less regular now. With school in full force for me and the kids, plus Doug working on his many projects both at home and out.....life is just busy so I'll try and catch it up.
Blake will be going to the regional golf tournament tomorrow. He has loved being on the team and developing some new talents (I did read my primary manual this week!). He also has started practicing for basketball. He has given up our Lake Powell trip next week to stay home with his grandparents to attend a basketball tournament. We'll miss him but admire his dedication.
Samantha played her final Fall soccer game. The season didn't turn out pretty. They won their first 3 games and then....let's just say the season wasn't their best. However, her coach is putting together an indoor soccer team for the winter, so maybe that will keep her in shape.
Ashlyn still enjoys ballroom, but is finding homework getting a bit more difficult. The new hamster, Sophie, is keeping Ash up at night. I say get rid of the hamster, but she wants her own pet. She loves animals. I think she might grow up to be a vet.
Sydney is the cheerleader for all. She is happy to go to all her siblings' games and clap when necessary, but mostly just run around and be in her own little world. Parent teacher conferences were fun this week. I was asked to talk to her about calming down the boyfriend/girlfriend thing. Of course, that is so yesterday to this 6 year old. No one can keep her attention longer than a day. Her teacher called her the "alpha-female" of the class, however the other "alpha-female" who dominated the kindergarten class isn't so keen on the new kid moving in on her territory. Sydney, of course, is totally oblivious to the conflict. She just goes with the flow. I wish I could forgive and forget as quickly as she. Oh, the drama of the 1st grade continues on.
We are definitely looking forward to our Lake Powell trip with our friends. Lucky for us, we have satellite in the RV so we can still watch the BYU game and General Conference.
