It's a little quiet around here!

I am at a loss. You see...I am the youngest child in my family. I have a sister who is 5 years older than me, so I was basically an only child through high school. Then when I graduated, I went to college. I had 7 roommates the first year, 5 roommates the second year, and 3 roommates until I got married and then just 1 for about a year. I'm not sure what it is like to be alone anymore. There is always so much coming and going w/ 4 kids and their friends and the husband who is a scoutmaster with 18 deacons trailing behind, that there is never a shortfall of commotion.

So, this week Blake went to EFY. This cut down on the teasing and taunting of his little sisters. Then Doug had to help his parents move a bed at their cabin, so he took Sydney with him to Idaho which left me with 2 girls home. Now with them being 11, they can pretty much take care of themselves. With them occupied and the laundry done and house cleaned and us not working outside the home, this leaves me with too much time and a thousand things I could be doing. I love to read, so I am in the middle of reading Les Miserables (Blake has to read this for his summer reading, so I volunteered to read it too for motivation). But after a while, I'm bored. I haven't been bored in years. SSHHHH! Don't tell Doug b/c he'll give me some dumb project that I really don't want to do. Lucky for me, tonight my branch president & his wife from when I was a teenager are in town visiting their kids (whom I use to babysit), so we're going to meet them for dinner.

Don't feel sorry for me, though, b/c tomorrow at 7 am I have to pick Blake & his friend up from BYU, take Ashlyn to her track meet @ Provo High at 8 am, and then run Blake's friend home and run back to the track meet. Doug & Sydney will arrive later in the afternoon. So the quiet is short-lived. It is such a rarity around here, though, that I've forgotten what that feels like.

I to am the youngest in my family with my next oldest sibling being 4 1/2 years older. We have a lot in common! Eat up this time alone. Wow peace and quiet, I can't even imagine it, though I wouldn't trade all of the noise I am used to permmanately. It would be nice to have a little break from it! :-)
