I don't know how many of you have seen Chevy Chase's Vacation movie in which the family takes the trip across country to Wally World. On the way, they encounter many areas of interest including the biggest ball of mud. I always tease Doug and call him Clark, b/c he is almost childlike in showing all the kids all of these neat things the world has to offer and in which they show very little appreciation. Unfortunately, I often follow suit and am not very supportive of some of his ideas either. He tries hard, though, and we give him an A for effort!

Our first stop on the Ellis Family Vacation, minus Blake, is Moab. Because of our indecision about leaving, Blake went with his scout troop to Beaver for his high adventure. Last we heard, he was repelling and rock climbing and having great fun. We will pick him up Friday night. We are staying in the KOA Moab. Our first real day we explored the Arches National Park. We hiked only the easiest little arches with the 3 girls. Sydney is quite the climber and will get higher than you want before you know it. I have a couple of great pictures on my movie camera, but didn't bring the cord to download the pics and of course, the battery needed recharged on the other camera.

That evening, after cooling off from the 100 degree temps in the pool, we went on a dinner cruise down the Colorado provided by Canyonlands by night. We did the Sound & Light tour. It was definitely not what we expected. The dinner was all you can eat Dutch Oven, which was good. However, do the dinner, but skip the light show. The cruise was great, but you can learn the history of Moab just from the guide and don't waste the money on the lights.
