This past week Doug's mission companion and trainer, Chris Collins, is here with his wife Eugenia from Jamaica. It has been fun having them here and hearing their wonderful accents filling the house. Doug put together a little mission reunion starting with a temple session on Friday night at the Mt. Timpanogos Temple and then a family picnic on Saturday in downtown Pleasant Grove.
Many missionaries from the 70s-90s attended, as well as many Jamaican members who have since relocated to the states. It was wonderful to see them all. 4 Mission Presidents attended: President Millett, President Brough, President Burt & President Weiler. The kids had a great time playing on the playground and putting together a little soccer game. The adults chatted about old times. I think the highlight for many of the missionaries besides the people was the food. Several brought authentic Jamaican dishes. Doug couldn't get enough of it. In fact, he talked Chris & Eugenia into cooking it tonight again. The kids are even enjoying jerk chicken, patties, & stew peas.
It was a great weekend!
