Health Insurance

Okay, now that Doug is turning 40, our health insurance premium just took a substantial jump. Yes, it is one of those necessity things but come on...price really does matter, especially when we're using it less and less these days. So..it's back to the drawing board and find a new carrier.

We met with one gentleman this morning and his insurance sounds good and we can customize it. I'm waiting for another guy right now, who is late by the way (not a good sign). We need to make a decision this week in order to cancel our other insurance by May 1st, when it is set to increase. Luckily, I understand most of their terms that they throw at you but when it gets down to the % of this and the % of that, that's when it gets tricky.

Luckily, we've all been pretty healthy. We're passed the yearly check up stuff and shots, so now it's more strep throat, accidents and incidentals. Sydney is really the only one with hospitalizations and those aren't considered pre-existing conditions or chronic stuff. So why do I feel like I'm financing 2-3 families with my insurance premium?

Now, don't get me wrong, I definitely don't want socialized medicine. In fact, I talked to a lady from Canada a few weeks ago and she couldn't believe we would want the type of system they have in Canada. In fact, she says her parents actually come to the states to get health care. Imagine that? Leaving your own country to seek health care. That is something to think about.

So wish us luck in our health insurance search. Pray for good health and hang on to your wallet when it comes to purchasing it!

I know Connie is always looking for insurance for the company and themselves and my parents. Maybe she would have some words of advice.
