Aren't grandparents wonderful? The kids are so excited because my mom is here. They also love it when Doug's parents come over too or when they can spend the night at their condo. Poor grandma Shirley, though, because Sydney has not left her alone since she got here. She has already learned how to play the Wii, played Go Fish, heard a piano concert, and have read about a dozen books. Since she's been up since 3 am this morning, you know she is feeling terribly sleepy. Since she's been a night owl for years and has pretty much learned to go without sleep, she doesn't really get crabby like I would. I guess another good reason to be a grandma!
It isn't until we're out of the house and have our own families, that we realize how much we need our parents. When we were early married, my kids would have probably gone naked if my parents didn't buy their clothes. Doug's family helped us find our house. My parents were constant babysitters to let us have some "sane" time. Doug's parents would take Blake to spend the night a lot to have some "alone" time away from the twins.
As the kids are getting older, Doug & I are actually looking forward to the day when our own kids have their own kids. For some of them, we hope they have kids exactly like themselves so they can empathize with what we had to deal with. Others, we just look forward to playing with the grandkids, spoiling them and giving them back. Oh the beauty of getting older!
Special thanks to our parents! We wouldn't be where we are today without them! Aren't you grateful for yours?

Every single day. I don't even have kids yet but I am so excited for them to get to know their grandparents.
We love our grandparents. We just wished they lived closer so that we could use them, I mean spend more time with them.

p.s. On your birthday list Bree's birthday is actually the 25th also. That's a busy day for the Finck family.
Thanks! I'll change it.
